Explore the plants and landscape of the Eli Whitney Museum through printmaking and bookmaking. In this hands-on workshop, participants will experiment with silk screen printing and cyanotype processes using botanical materials collected from around the Eli Whitney grounds.
Participants will create a series of prints and then combine them with prepared botanical papers, images, and other materials to assemble a small handmade book. The workshop offers an accessible introduction to experimental printmaking and artist book practices while inviting participants to consider how plants, landscapes, and material traces can record a sense of place.
No previous printmaking or bookmaking experience is required. Each participant will leave with a handmade botanical book incorporating original prints and materials inspired by the Eli Whitney landscape.
