Main Building & Carter Studio
Our campus is composed of several buildings dedicated to education, exhibitions, workshop productions, and more.
The Main Building is the second structure in the campus lot. You may access the Main Building through the double doors on the North side, next to the waterfall and red covered bridge.
The Carter Studio is the first building on your right when you enter the driveway. This building hosts school workshops, vacation and summer programs, adult workshops, birthday parties, and special events.
You can access the Carter Studio through the red double doors on the Northwest side along the sidewalk.

CT Transit Bus
CT Transit provides bus services throughout the state. Try the Trip Planner to plan your trip to the museum.

At EWMW, we offer various programs throughout the year, including summer camps, vacation programs, school trips, and more.
Weekends & Walk-Ins
Guests are welcome to come in and create a project at our Main Building on Saturdays & Sundays from 10:00 AM EST to 3:00 PM EST. A museum apprentice will help you choose and build your desired project. Additionally, select pieces from the Gilbert Collection are available for viewing inside the Main Building.
Enter the Main Building via the double doors on the North side, entrance closest to the covered bridge and waterfall.
Classes & Workshops
The museum hosts workshop classes, vacation programs, after-school programs, and special events.

Summer Camps
EWMW hosts 10 weeks of Summer Camp annually from June to August. Campers are eligible for registration starting at 6 years old.

All indoor and outdoor facilities are equipped with ramps for easy access using wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
The office in the main building is walk-up only, but the campus has various meeting spaces to accommodate individual needs.
While the trails of East Rock Park adjacent to the museum are a favorite spot for dog-walkers, the museum cannot allow pets indoors.
Service animals are permitted.
No, EWMW does not have a gift shop or sell merchandise.
Free Admission
EWMW is committed to serving the communities of New Haven County and traveling guests by keeping admission to our gallery spaces free for all audiences. This includes our annual A.C. Gilbert Train exhibition and Leonardo Challenge charity fundraising campaign.
Prices for our walk-in projects and other events are available on-site and online.
While the museum is grateful for all donations made by individuals or groups, we currently do not offer a membership program for recurring donors. Please contact the main office for more information about online and in-person donations.
Museum visitors are welcome to use the men's and women's restrooms on the first floor of the main building. Individuals with non-conforming gender identities may prefer using our gender-neutral restroom located inside of the Carter Studio.
