A.C. Gilbert’s American Flyer Train Show
In 1937, the A.C. Gilbert Company purchased the American Flyer model train company. The company had been struggling, but A.C. Gilbert Co. made them successful again by improving the model offerings and marketing them with the rest of their engineering educational toys.
Every year from Thanksgiving to late January, visitors can experience the A.C. Gilbert Train Display, a beloved annual tradition. A four-track model featuring Gilbert American Flyer trains is on display and available for you to drive your own train.
Hours
The A.C. Gilbert Train Show is open weekends through January 25 from 10am–3pm, with special viewing hours over the holidays:
Dec. 24 10 am–1 pm
Dec. 31 10 am–1 pm
3/16 Scale
At 3/16” scale, a six-foot-tall person rises a mere inch and one-eighth above the ground. Can you imagine yourself in this miniaturized world?
To help bring you into this world, we have reinvented an American Flyer 302 Steam Locomotive. The S-gauge engine has been retrofitted with a lightweight camera typically found on flying drones. This small camera gives you a first-person view from the train engineer’s seat. Those who cannot join us in person can still be a part of the fun by heading over to our website and watching the live stream footage.
