Katharen Wiese is a multidisciplinary artist from Lincoln, NE and assistant professor in painting and drawing at the University of Denver, residing in Denver, Colorado.
Wiese’s background spans figuration, relief printmaking, and assemblage wherein the patchwork forms a material and social lens on identity. Her work engages the actualities of commodity culture and its relationship to racial and environmental harm through archival research and reclaimed materials.
Wiese holds a B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (2018) and an MFA from Yale University (2024). Wiese was an Artist in Residence at the Eli Whitney Museum and Workshop (24’ - 26’). Wiese’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Seton Gallery (New Haven), the Yale Peabody Natural History Museum (New Haven), and Kiechel Fine Art (Lincoln, NE). She has been featured in group exhibitions in Martha’s Vineyard, London, Beijing, New York, and Miami.
