2008 Summer Program
China's history of trade is long and intricate. Her ships were technically advanced. Her captains used compasses and navigation charts. Her envoys and merchants explored the far reaches of the Pacific long before Europeans arrived. Construct an elegant Junk with bamboo battened sails and a full crew. Experiment with Ming era arts: beads and stone and the porcelain clay that the world named for her. Add a small Wakø (pirate) Ship to complete the story. Construct, with the class, a water map of her world and exchange treasures with your ships.
