In 1832, Eli Whitney's friend and contemporary, the painter John Trumbull, helped establish the Yale Art Gallery. This first Yale art gallery grew and changed as art and as our community changed. In December, the YUAG reopened after a huge, lengthy, and brilliant renovation.
Construct your own micro Yale University Art Gallery as you consider: What does it take to make a great art museum? Visit the Yale University Art Gallery. Sketch its treasures. In our studio, sculpt, paint and print works to fill your museum.
Special thanks to Jessica Sack, The Jan and Frederick Mayer Associate Curator of Public Education, YUAG.
