Arvind Gupta began designing clever experiments for children in India 30 years ago. He devoted himself to the Village Science Movement. He set out to design exciting, accessible experiments. Resources were scarce. Dr. Gupta learned to employ cast off materials (plastic bottles, straws, scrap wire, tape etc.) with remarkable ingenuity. The internet gave him an inexpensive channel for sharing his genius. Cleverly, his presentations speak the many languages of India by choosing images and not words. From the 400 projects we have reviewed, we have gathered a dozen for you to explore.

Construct the world's simplest electric motor and a remarkable slide horn. Then, choose two more projects from Dr. Gupta's world: a spinning pump, a soap geometry toy, a CD spectrascope, an unlikely balancing bottle, or new and different paper tricks. Learn that the best of instructions only work with your attentiveness and adjustments.
