Before there were smart phones and iPads, before there were televisions and radios, before there were movies, Toy Theaters were popular home entertainments. These were small wood or paper stages often set to present just one play. The artists Picasso and Calder played with them. The authors Lewis Carroll and Hans Christian Andersen presented stories with them. Children assembled them to recreate classic and modern plays. Now it's your turn.

Construct a stage on wheels. Use the movement of the stage to move your actors and props. Produce a classic tale. Or invent your own story.

The temporary Toy Theatre Museum in DUMBO Brooklyn marked its opening with a parade of stages with familiar parts but much less detail than you will produce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03ncYmNcZ_M.
