2009 Summer Program

Born two hundred years ago this year, Charles Darwin set out on a voyage as a young man to survey the coats of South America for the British admiralty. He would map much more. In the many species of animals he observed, he noticed patterns, similarities, and differences that helped connect the family of all living things. Construct a Beagle, the ship that launched Darwin's explorations. Observe and draw insects, turtles, birds and worms. Collect shells and rocks. Learn the science that begins with careful observation.
