2024 Summer Program

Please Note: This is a four day class- Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri.
We are closed, Wed, June 19th.

In the late 18th century a new exhibit at the Royal Academy of London popularized landscape painting. Inspiration from British Landscape artists of the late 1700s-mid 1800s lives on today. Join us to explore our scenic backyard: East Rock Park, along the Mill River. This week you will be guided to sketch, paint, and observe your environment in a renewed way with brush strokes inspired by British landscape painters: Turner , Constable, and Gainsborough.

We will set the tone for the week by visiting the Yale Center for British Art’s Study Room and viewing works that will inspire us this week. Then we will dive into building your own portable easel, palette, and paint box to store your paints, brushes, pencils, and other materials. The portfolio you make will be filled with your interpretations of the world around you. Exhibit your works at the end of the week and invite family and friends to enjoy your creations.
