Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing– absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats
Water Rat, Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Gramme, 1908

This sentiment is so powerful that Messabouts are a thing: – a gathering of people who love the lore and learning of boats. This week is a Messabout.

Begin each day by constructing a quick experimental boat for play.

Then work every day on a polished wood, battery-powered motor boat – a tribute to Dorothy Levitt, who captured the first Harmsworth Cup 115 years ago this August, and launched the golden age of speed boats.

Join a team to glue up a cardboard dinghy to paddle in a Friday Regatta.
