Spring Vacation ~ April 14 - 18, 2008
 

The Atlas of Invention

Consider the different paths the mind follows on its way to invention. Sometimes you begin knowing where you want to end; sometimes you know where you want to end only when you get there.


 
Monday: The Tour: Japanese Marbles: Study and then construct superb Japanese marble relays. Invent and build your own.
 
Tuesday: The Pilgrimage: Clean Air Cool Planet: Experiment with smart energy tools. Learn to make, measure and save energy.
 
Wednesday: The Contest: Battlebot: Construct a dual motor, dual control robot. Then customize, stratigize, and test it in sumo combat.
 
Thursday: The Treasure Hunt: Phenakistoscope: construct a classic animation wheel and its moving pictures.
 
Friday: The Meander: Finding the Light: on a hardwood base construct an LED light of your own design, for your own purpose.


Hours : 9 - 3
Ages 7- 12

Fee: per day: $58 ($54 members)
per week: $255 ($230 members)

Registration Instructions:

Holidays allow precious time for experiments not possible on days crowded with school responsibilities. We try to balance our offerings. We keep days relaxed and flexible; we keep projects lively and ambitious. Feel free to call for details of any projects. Projects are geared for 7 year-olds and up. Call us: 777.1833.

• Early registration helps our planning. Classes may be cancelled if we do not reach minimum enrollment. Dress for mess and for outside projects.

To Register: fill out the registration form. We need medical forms. If your child was here in the summer and we have current med forms (within 3 years) we will try to use those. You can use the medical form on the back of the registration form.

payment: Send the forms in with payment (Full payment for all single day programs, 50% deposit for a full week. We can take MasterCard and Visa as well as personal checks.

lunch: Send a lunch in plastic bags ONLY. No lunch boxes, lunch bags or ice packs. We are required to keep all lunches in the refrigerator. Space is a problem.

extended day: The day may be extended from 8am, to 5:30 pm. A charge of $6 per hour will be added.
