For School Groups

Meets Connecticut Science Standards

  • 1.3 Organisms change in form and behavior as part of their life cycles.
  • 2.2 Plants change their forms as part of their life cycles.

Each living thing goes through stages of development. Construct a small theater with scenes that change to present the growth cycle of plants or animals. We offer materials to study typically pumpkins or butterflies. With a design flexible enough for teachers and students to go back to their classes and present another life cycle on the reverse side of each stage block.

Parts

Step 1
Insert the proscenium screen into the slot in the base.

Step 2
Run the long dowel through the riser wheel and insert into the hole in the base.

Step 3
Cap the base with the stage wheel, and hold it in place with the rubber o-ring.

Step 4
Prepare the display boards by inserting the short dowels into the holes on the bottoms.

Step 5
Insert each one into a hole on the stage and orient with a broad side facing outward. If the fit is tight, wiggle in gently while supporting the stage with two fingers, to prevent cracking.

Step Done
Take out your decorative parts and prepare the five stages of development for display.
