  • Designed for ages 9, 10, 11 and 12

Four hundred years ago, the Italian mathematician Galileo constructed a telescope and turned it toward the heavens. He changed the way we thought. He invented a science of observation. He was an artisan scientist who made his own instruments.

Make your own instruments. Construct a telescope kit designed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Galileo's observations just as Galileo made them. Build a telescope stand with a compass and sundial...the other tools essential to discovering where we are in relation to our star.

With a trip after lunch to the Leitner Family Observatory and Planetarium at Yale University to see their program about the telescope called "Two Small Pieces of Glass." http://lfop.astro.yale.edu/

The fee above reflects an additional charge of $25 for the purchase of a Galileoscope for each registrant.
