Parts

Make sure you have all your parts. If you do not, ask your instructor for replacements.
Do not remove the rubber o-ring from the foil strip.
Step 1
Ensure your batteries and bulbs are working by holding the wire leads to the battery contacts. If one battery fails, replace it. If both batteries fail, try a new light.

Step 2
Prepare four contact points by stacking two washers on each of four screw-eyes, then screw in to the appropriate points.

Step 3
Your light's wires will be loose. Ply (twist) them together to make them easier to work with. When that's done, put it together with one of your loose wires and ply the ends together. Form the wire into a small hook.

Step 4
Take the hooked end on your wires and slide in between the washers on the top contact. The hook should wrap around the stem clock-wise so it will tighten easily. Make sure the metal comes into contact with metal and not with the insulation.

Step 5
With your second wire-hook oriented clockwise as well, tighten it in between the washers on the left-side contact.

Step 6
Wrap the loose ends of your wires around a pencil to keep them neat. Form hooks on the ends, it will make life easier later on.

Step 7
Extend your paper-clip at the center to form a simple S-shaped switch. This will go beneath the washers on the bottom contact. Your second loose wire will go between the washers, oriented clockwise. Tighten.

Step 8
Fold your foil contacts over the edges of the battery tray. The rubber o-ring should be on the inside of the tray, on the right-hand side. Push your thumb-tacks partially into the base to pin the foil in place, leaving a space and a "stem" to wrap your wire ends around. These will be your battery contacts. To avoid a short circuit, be certain that no foil extends to the bottom of the battery tray.

Step 9
Insert the house into the base.

Step 10
Hook your loose ends as before and slip them around the stem under the tacks. Push tight, making sure that metal contacts metal, and not the insulation. Do this for both sides.

Step 11
Position your batteries in an inverted "V" shape in the tray, with the positive (+) contacts on the right. This will make it easy to push them down for a good fit. Push the batteries fully into the tray and press the paperclip switch to the left-hand contact to complete the circuit.

Step Done!
Bask in the warm glow as your decorate your home.
