Of course you can buy wood at Home Depot. But wood comes from trees. To understand wood, you must let it tell you all about the tree it came from. We have collected pieces of Cherry, Walnut and Oak…all New England hardwoods. They will tell you about the years, storms, branches and pests they have known. All of those contribute to the beauty that, with a little work, you will discover.

Construct and finish a Milking Stool, a simple, classic, useful rustic seat.

Then finish blocks of Cherry, Walnut, Oak, Maple, and Poplar. Decorate them to help you remember the distinct gifts each offers.
