  • Designed for ages 9 to 12

Four hundred years ago, the Italian mathematician Galileo constructed a telescope and turned it toward the heavens. He changed the way we thought. He invented a science of observation. He was an artisan scientist who made his own instruments.

Make your own instruments. Construct a telescope kit designed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Galileo's observations just as Galileo made them. Build a telescope stand with a compass and sundial...the other tools essential to discovering where we are in relation to our star.

With a trip after lunch to the Leitner Family Observatory and Planetarium at Yale University to see their program about the telescope called "Two Small Pieces of Glass."

The fee above reflects an additional charge of $25 for the purchase of a Galileoscope for each registrant.
