Photography is a diverse art form ranging from the realism of photojournalism to the abstract of composites manipulated in photo editing software. it is one of the few visual arts that doesn't require fine motor skills for mastery, and is therefore a powerful form of expression for teens.
Learn about the work of master photographers, and take a field trip to see some work up close. Bring your own camera if you'd like, and get some hands-on help on how to maximize its potential, and yours. Work on a week-long project to produce a series in a style uniquely yours.
Students may bring their own cameras for this camp, or they will be assigned one of the Museum's cameras for the week. This class is designed for students with a deep interest in photography, and/or students who have already taken Exploring Photography level 1.
Stephanie Anestis is a Hamden-based photographer who loves teaching children and adults about this exciting and versatile artistic medium. She primarily photographs people, and loves looking for beautiful light. She began Stephanie Anestis Photography in 2010 and has been photographing and showing her work throughout Connecticut since. She is thrilled to be teaching children how to see the world through the eyes of a photographer. You can see her work at www.stephanieanestis.com.
